The International Piano Competition "BROUMOV KEY" is intended for contestants of up to 14 years of age. The Competition has one round and the contestants fall into 4 categories according to their age on the day the Competition takes place.
The Competition shall take place between 3rd and 6th May, 2012 within the premises of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Wenceslas in Broumov.
Prof. Ivan Klánský is the Chairman of the Jury, which includes significant Czech as well as foreign pianists and music pedagogues.
Division of the contestants according to their age:
Contestants aged up to 8: 1st category (time limit 4-7 minutes)
Contestants aged 9-10: 2nd category (time limit 5-9 minutes)
Contestants aged 11-12: 3rd category (time limit 9-12 minutes)
Contestants aged 13-14: 4th category (time limit 12-15 minutes)
Competition repertoire for all categories:
At least one Baroque or Classical piece and at least one Romantic piece or a piece composed after 1900.
Competition Prizes:
1) Financial prizes (8,000 - 1,000 CZK) for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
in every category
2) Prize for the performance of music composed by one of the following authors:
L. Janáček, B. Martinů, V. Kalabis (all categories)
3) Material prize for the Overall Winner
Awarding the prizes is conditioned by the contestant's presence at the Winner's Concert on 6th May, 2012.

Prof. Dr. Noemi Maczelka, DLA (concert pianist, Head of the Artistic Institute and the Department of Music Education of University Szeged, Hungary)
MgA. David Mareček, Ph.D. (Director of Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, piano pedagogue at Brno Conservatory)
MgA. Jan Simon (concert pianist, intendant of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra)
